My Photography, Flattened Cans

I have been collecting flattened can images for a long time. I am interested in the collision of massed produced near perfection and entropic forces of the cosmos. I am interested in the archeological aspects of what brands wind up in the streets over time. I am interested in the idea of uniqueness as the product of entropic forces.

Walking (yesterday)

… cold this AM… not sure i dressed warmly enough…

… K walking their dog… they say good morning… we discuss how cold it is…

… no clouds… sun isn’t up yet… air is clear and still…

… sitting by the falls…

… a possible way to curate my photos… color in the Apple ecosystem, b&w in Lightroom… color when shared the same day… b&w thereafter… rules… there always need to be defining rules…

… returning home… bird tweeting loudly… other birds twittering in hushed tones…

… photos from the walk…

Walking

… chilly this morning… an air conditioner running…

… my back hurts… i should start stretching again…

… the undertow is towing… deep breath… be in the moment…

… unfettered happiness seems a difficult proposition…

Walking

… after taking garbage to the dump, a walk around old harbor looking for boat reflection images like this one:

… one of my favorite subjects…

Scenes From a Walk

Some pictures from this morning’s walk…

Walking

… after tending to the chickens…

… it’s a walk on the Madame Brett trail… a blustery day, almost feels like the beginning of Fall which is a month and a half away…

… some scenes along the way…

… a white butterfly flits across the path in front of me… actually, probably a cabbage moth… this morning i read that butterflies are symbols of renewal and rebirth in Japanese culture and also viewed as the souls of the departed… they are generally a benign or good sign…

… as i write this i wonder about living in a way that makes the world symbolic and sacred… can this be done without devolving into superstition and suspicion?…

… some more scenes…

… that’s all for now…

… rather than use pano mode, i take multiple photos and stitch them together in Lightroom… i feel the results are better?… nothing to base that on… i will have to do a side by side comparison…

04 Utility Poles and Wires:

… i am assembling a portfolio of images i have made of utility poles and wires over the years… i used to think it was so obnoxious, these wires and poles all over the place, getting in the way of the view… but then i began to think they are quite often beautiful… they are certainly ubiquitous where i live…

… i have a number of typology studies that i work on, Flattened Cans is one of them… Utility Poles and Wires is another… i am contemplating photobooks on each of the typologies i do…

… here are a few more of the UP and W series…
