Today’s look…

Selfie, my feminized male self… I am wearing a floral blouse, black and white, hair down to my shoulders, black head band, brass colored bead necklace, coppery lipstick and blue thick rimmed glasses.

Everlane is having an end of summer sale. I scored the skirt, dress and blouse (without the shorts) at substantial discount. I am a big Everlane fan. Their clothing is well made, reasonably priced (even before sale markdown), and the company centers sustainability in their products and shipping. And, they have plus sizing for most garments.

At the same time I am shopping these elegant heels…

Soft gold tone woman’s closed toe sandal heels with ankle strap.

… my wife is shopping for the ever fashionable combat boots to go with her jeans and leather biker jacket… there seems to be a bit of gender role reversal going on.

A nice thing happened today. In the farmer’s market I stopped by the stall of a young woman who makes jewelry. She said hello and immediately told me how much she liked my style which she had, apparently, been observing for a while now. She made my day.

I like this way of thinking about myself…

The term “two spirit,” which is a modern term adapted by First Nations peoples in North America, reflects this idea. Serving as a catch-all phrase for the many different ways of recognizing these variations in individual tribal cultures, two-spirit people are recognized as being physically sexed one way while also having aspects of the other sex. In many tribes, such people are seen as having essential spiritual roles in the community precisely because they have feet in both worlds.

… so tired of hatred of the other, especially politicians scoring political points with it… we are so ill, can we cure ourselves?…

an article about La Veneno in Hyperallergic

… trans women interest me… it’s the one form of alternative sexuality i could fancy myself being, except i think i would make an unattractive woman and i do enjoy heterosexual life… there is a biographical miniseries on HBO about La Veneno

03 Paris Lee, Trans Woman

a conversation with Paris Lee, trans woman…

… i envy men who make attractive women… it is the one piece of LGBTQ+ spectrum i could have inhabited under the right circumstances… i haven’t minded being male, but i have these very feminine parts of my psyche and wonder what it might have been like to be a woman sometimes… except, i am convinced i would make an ugly woman while i am a passably handsome man… the thought that J sensed this in me and didn’t like it…
